Weight Gain & Reduced Sex life: Is it a Relationship Dealbreaker?

Far too many men complain about their partner’s weight gain & reduced sex life. Women who gain unwanted weight often feel so unattractive that their libido takes a nosedive. If you’re a frustrated husband who has tried anything and everything to make your wife lose weight, you might want to consider the following factors first before pressuring her to do something about “her” problem.

Men are Visual
Men are essentially more visual and physical creatures so it’s only normal for your wife’s weight gain & reduced sex life to bother you more than it bothers her. Your wife has a different mindset altogether. If it’s too painful to hold it in any longer, you might want to try some therapy or counseling first. This way, you both have a better chance of having an open mind when you talk about your relationship issues.

Loving Unconditionally
If you feel guilty about talking to her about her weight gain & reduced sex life, it’s okay. Just stay away from negative things that can hurt her self-esteem. Though you may have personal reasons for wanting this change in her, you can also tell her that you’re worried about her health. Tell your wife that you love her no matter what, but you can’t just let her put herself at risk. Loving your wife unconditionally doesn’t mean that you can’t admit how you really feel.

What You Can Do
Losing weight is a big deal for almost all women so be prepared for tough times when weight gain & reduced sex life becomes an issue in your relationship. It can make things harder but it doesn’t necessarily mean you will love each other any less. Gently encourage your wife and be a role model for her. Lose some weight yourself. Being more romantic won’t hurt either. Weight gain & reduced sex life should not mean the end of your relationship, if you turn it into an opportunity to improve things instead.
